The weather has been fantastic the last two days , so if you haven't gotten out on your favorite stream here in SE Minnesota plan an outing as mild temps are forecasted for the next few days. This warmer weather has gotten the trout more active and in the last two days a lot of fish were landed. The waters were relatively free of large ice shelves and good flows were found on the several streams I fished the last two days. The "hot" flies for me were size 14-16, BH Pheasant Tail nymphs and Black Frenchies - which simulate Midge larva. Although there were nice Midge hatches by early afternoon, I was unable to find any takers upon switching to a dry. A little weather above freezing is getting the fish and us more active. This one was taken on a size 16 Flashback Pheasant tail bead head nymph on The South Branch of The Root River near the fly shop. Come on down. The coffee pot is on and warming up in the shop is free.
