The South Branch of The Root River is high but clear. Fishing has been a little tough with the water cooling, trout spawned out or spawning and weather not cooperating. The water that is still pen for catch and release fishing in Preston, Spring Valley and Chatfield is in good shape and very fishable. If we et a little warm up it should be great but right now they are tight lipped. Throwing some pink squirrels and Prince nymphs may take few rainbows but otherwise wait a while and let them finish and rest up. The shop is open weekends and evenings if you are in town and will have updates in the board and hot spots.
